It has been so good for our souls to be able to escape to the land we have up North. It is right across the street from B’s parents so we get to be close to them and still have our own little place. We currently have our camper on the land and spent every Saturday in May working on clearing brush and making it a little home away from home for our family.

E loves being up there, she loves being outside, she loves playing in the dirt, collecting rocks and watching for birds. She loves being in the water, for now it is just tootsie’s but as soon as it warms up I don’t think we will be able to get her out. She also loves hanging out in the camper, playing with toys, eating snacks and telling Hunter “No, Hunter.” This weekend as we were getting everything packed to head home I swept the floors. As soon as I put the broom down she was there sweeping up the floor for me. She is quite the helper.

It has been a wonderful experience living life in such a small space, if even for just 2-3 days a week. It is so freeing to not be surrounded by stuff. Evie has a small box of toys that stays up there with a few more that we keep outside. We bring up the clothes we need for the weekend and leave our boots and jackets up there. Every time we leave my heart aches a little for the simplicity and the freedom I feel like we gain as soon as we drive out of the city limits. We hope that one day this will be our home, for now we are content and joyful in our weekends their and weekdays in the city. We do love being in the city, close to my family and our friends. But the fresh air, open lake, and quit sounds call our hearts… one day.
